Vanessa Johnson Artist Talk
- This event has passed. Check back for the future dates.
Syracuse artist Vanessa Johnson will give an Artist’s Talk at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, to discuss her exhibit at the Schweinfurth Art Center and Cayuga Museum of History & Art, “In God’s Voice: A Celebration of the Spirituality of Harriet Tubman.” The exhibit and talk are part of the City of Auburn’s Harriet Tubman Bicentennial celebration. Johnson’s quilts and fiber artworks examine Tubman’s faith in nature, God, and her supporters as she led enslaved people to freedom. Johnson’s exhibit is part of the Emerging Artists Project, a joint exhibition of the Schweinfurth and Cayuga Museum. Her talk is part of Auburn’s First Friday event, which opens cultural and historic sites for free from 5 to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of the month.
