“Our Domestic Enemy”: How Seward Helped End Confederate Commemoration

Yale scholar Connor Williams will discuss his in-progress book on William Seward, “Our Domestic Enemy,” which outlines how Seward perceived the Confederacy during his pre and post Civil War tenure as Secretary of State. Williams will also share from his recent work as Lead Historian for The Naming Commission of the Department of Defense, a body tasked with modern day issues of commemoration and public memory. This event will take place at the Equal Rights Heritage Center.
