Welding and Cutting Fundamentals & Certification Preparation – Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES
This course is designed for adult students with no metal fabrication experience as well as the experienced welder seeking industry certification.
Students will learn:
- safe shop practices
- metal preparation techniques
- thermal cutting processes
- welding fundamentals using Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG)
Emphasis will be placed on proper technique, safety, weld quality, and preparation for industry-recognized certification testing, including AWS destructive bend tests and DOT radiographic (X-ray) certification requirements.
