Woodworker
Position Summary:
Build and assemble furniture following instructional/samples provided by the Design Department to fulfill production orders, as well as act as a driver to deliver product between MacKenzie-Childs warehouse locations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
60% Build and assemble furniture following the instructional/samples provided by design to fulfill production orders.
25% Driver: Loading, unloading and delivering items to their intended locations in a safe and timely manner (between MacKenzie-Childs locations). Adhering to assigned routes and time schedules.
10% Troubleshoot daily process problems to ensure that production is maximized.
5% Schedule and work on customer repairs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED
• Vocational or technical training in building trades preferred
• Previous experience with construction or production management
• Valid Driver License
• Clean driving record
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production.
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to use hand tools applicable to trade.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently, investigate problems, initiate solutions, work under deadline constraints, and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret paperwork.
• Ability to develop and maintain accurate records and data files.
• Knowledge of inventory management practices.
Special Requirements:
Location: Aurora, NY
• Ability to work overtime on a regular basis
• Occasional weekend work
• Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record
Equipment Used:
Computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, calculator, various hand and power tools, forklift and pallet jack
Computer Software: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Made2Manage and NetSuite
Safety Equipment: Safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, respirator and mask
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive hand motions, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel; crouch, kneel, crawl, bend, climb, push and/or pull with arms and reach with arms and/or hands.
- Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- High mental and visual attention required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in a typical shop environment. The worker is exposed to noise, dust, fumes, oils, vibration, hazardous materials, potential for physical injury, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
