DESCRIPTION:Are you a small business owner or interested in creating marketing materials for your local non-profit or your passion project\, but have limited knowledge of design or a limited budget? This course will help you get started and design something great! \nIn order to make any design successful\, you will need to know the elements and principles of design. We will go over the key rules of design that can be used in any application to achieve your goals. Students will be given an overview of a few applications available such as Adobe Suite\, Canva\, Microsoft Suite\, and Google Suite. We will also touch on how to procure professional design services for larger projects such as logo design and branding/visual identity packages\, which would require a professional designer. The overall goal of the course is that students gain a better appreciation of the art of graphic design and bring to their attention nuances of good design and the many facets of the visual design world. Students will finish the course with a tangible design project they can use to support their goals and be set up for success with future projects.

As she longs to love\, celebrate\, and recognize Dr. Juhanna Rogers\, her world begins to shatter\, reflecting the intricacies of becoming her true self. \n“This play is about facing my story and being courageous and sharing it to hopefully comfort and inspire others to do the same\,” said Dr. Rogers. “There is something magical and heavy about being a Black woman in the world. Shattering explores it all. I am most vulnerable in this work\, and I am grateful for the opportunity.”

In the bustle of social media\, national politics\, and the hottest summer on record\, couldn’t you use some time to get away and paint by a lakeside? Then join the Cayuga Museum at Vanderkamp resort near Oneida Lake for the revival of the FLARE program. \nFLARE (the Finger Lakes Artist Retreat Experience) was one of the most distinctive programs of the Cayuga Museum for many decades. Led by Syracuse University Professor and the Museum’s first director\, Walter Long\, the program invited artists to join him for a daylong retreat along one of our region’s many incomparable natural vistas and capture the moment and scenery in paint. Upon Professor Long’s death\, the program was discontinued: but now the Cayuga Museum is bringing it back!\n\nAt Vanderkamp\, tucked away in the heart of rural Upstate New York\, you will learn from master plein air artist\, Hetty Easter\, as you immerse yourself in the art of nature itself from sunrise to sunset at this limited palette oil painting retreat. This program is designed for painters of all skill levels\, whether you’re just starting out or looking to hone your talent further. \nThe program will be held in the waning days of Summer on Saturday\, September 21 from 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Registration is $300\, and includes chef made lunch\, access to Kempwick Commons at Vanderkamp\, one-on-one instruction from Hetty Easter\, and some art materials. Registration costs may be paid in a series of installments if preferred. A supply list will be provided upon registration. Reservations are required as spots are limited in order to ensure every attendee has equal access to instruction from the artist. DESCRIPTION:The Dangers of Early Specialization \nThe push for early specialization in youth athletics has a long\, filed history of initial success followed by life-long regrets. Highly specialized early sports participation has not worked for multiple reasons anywhere in the world\, yet it remains a national tragedy as future talent is squandered for today’s successes. Unfortunately\, this pattern is repeated year after year. \nInvisible Training \nA close examination of the role fundamental motor skill development plays in the early career of the young athlete. Topics covered will include the role the bio-moto skills play\, multi-lateral development\, the dynamic warm-up and core development play in all sports. \nSpeed Development \nFast actions lead to success in almost every sport. While speed actions are an inherited quality the attention to detail with early training efforts can develop movement patterns that with time and maturity can develop neuromuscular pathways that will allow athletes to maximize their inherent abilities. \nTesting and the 5-Star Program \nTalent identification is one of the keys to the success of European sports programs. Simple tests can offer direction and identify areas where athletes show promise and may enjoy the most success. Additionally\, statistics produced by simple physical tests offer a useful benchmark for future comparisons of future teams. The 5-Star System describes a simple battery of physical tests along with pointers to develop the psychological qualities of young athletes so their initial efforts at being a teammate contribute to the larger goals of a team. \n

This is the 2nd year with FLX Helicopters \, first come first serve personal helicopter rides.
