SUMMARY:Studio Schweinfurth: Skins and Skeletons with Mo Kelman
DESCRIPTION:In this experimental workshop\, students will learn lashing and chaotic weaving methods for building skeletal structures with rattan and bamboo.  On these frameworks\, explore methods for building skins with rice papers\, pigmented and unpigmented gut\, and recycled netting. Paintable graphite\, acrylics\, shellac and Japanese suminagashi marbleizing will further modify membrane surfaces and structures. A series of guided exercises will prompt students to invent unique\, original sculptural forms.

DESCRIPTION:Join Auburn Public Theater for an America 250 celebration event featuring the talents of The Tubman Troupe. \n\n\n\n\nListen and experience history as Auburn\, NY’s The Tubman Troupe performs the iconic 1852 letter from abolitionist and revolutionary Frederick Douglass\, “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?” \nSpoken word\, song\, and performance all coalesce in a powerful retelling of our past in order to explore where we can go in the future. \nPerformed live on our Main Stage\, Auburn Public Theater is proud to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America. In doing this performance\, The Tubman Troupe is consciously connecting this historic speech to contemporary America. \n\n\n\n\nThis event is supported in part by Commemorate 250 funding provided by the City of Auburn’s Historic and Cultural Sites Commission and NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate #Juneteenth by seeing the group that moved from Ghana to Rochester to perform on America’s Got Talent! On Saturday June 20\, 2026 at 6 PM\, the Womba Africa Drumming and Dance Group are making their way back to the Historic Willard Memorial Chapel for an unforgettable experience! \n  \nWomba Africa shares the culture of Ghana through dance and music. Performances are culturally unique in so many ways\, from their costumes\, instruments\, rhythms\, dance\, and songs\, all originating from West Africa. During the event\, Womba Africa also opens the floor for audience participation\, inviting guests to learn traditional dances and even try playing the African drums themselves\, creating a fun and interactive cultural experience for all ages. \n  \nThis event is supported by the Tour Cayuga Tourism Support Grant. The admission fee is $10 per person\, children 12 and under are free.  The Chapel is handicap accessible through its north entrance off Seymour Street.
