SUMMARY:The Carol Bryant Quartet
DESCRIPTION:The Tiffany Sunday Concert Series are back!! This year we are starting it off right with the Carol Bryant Quartet. \nThe Carol Bryant Quartet features Carol on vocals\, Bruce Wood on guitar\, Dave Arliss on bass and Steve Orlando on percussion and vocals. Starting in 2015 as a guitar/vocal duo\, Carol and Bruce invited Dave to join in 2016. The trio’s SAMMY-nominated CD was released in January 2017\, and the trio became a quartet with the addition of Steve in 2019. Each member of the group brings a unique background in the study and performance of a variety of musical genres. With a foundation in jazz standards and bossa nova\, the quartet also plays a wide variety of acoustic music\, including jazz-influenced favorites by Stevie Wonder\, James Taylor\, Norah Jones\, Michael Buble\, Sting\, and more. \nThe quartet is always working on new material\, including songs from decades past as well as newer hits that catch their attention. They believe in songs that tell a story or touch an emotion\, and only choose music that they know will speak to the audience.  Carol\, Bruce\, Dave and Steve are committed to improving their personal musicianship and their performance as a quartet. They each believe that music is primarily for listeners\, not performers\, and are dedicated to giving their audience members a sincere\, authentic\, and personal musical experience each time they play. \nThis concert benefits the Community Preservation Committee’s care of the Willard Memorial Chapel. Admission is $10 per person at the door. The Chapel is handicap accessible through its north entrance off Seymour Street. Tickets may be purchased at Willard Chapel\, 17 Nelson Street\, Auburn\, NY during our regular hours Wednesday -Friday 10 AM – 4 PM.

Wickenden is the Executive Editor of The New Yorker\, in addition to author of The Agitators. This book explores how three extraordinary women changed history and advanced the cause of equality. United by roots in Auburn\, the friendship between Harriet Tubman\, Martha Coffin Wright\, and Frances Seward led them together to “agitate” for abolition and women’s rights. \nWickenden will be the sixth guest hosted by the Seward House Museum. The inaugural event in 2012 featured Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. Goodwin was followed by award winning author\, journalist\, and political commentator Cokie Roberts\, political satirist Mark Russell\, and Director Emeritus of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History Brent Glass. DESCRIPTION:Fort Hill Cemetery Historical Guided Tour – Remembering the People That Made Auburn “History’s Hometown” \nPresented by Laurel Auchampaugh \nWhen: Sunday September 19\, 2021 (rain date Sunday September 26\, 2021) \nTime: 2:00 PM \nWhere: Fort Hill Cemetery\, 19 Fort Street\, Auburn\, NY 13021 \n  \nPlease join historian and guide Laurel Auchampaugh for a fascinating tour of the beautiful Fort Hill Cemetery overlooking downtown Auburn.  Its hilltop location\, fortified many centuries ago by the mound building peoples of North America\, later was reputed to be the site of an important Cayuga council seat and village. The cemetery grounds were dedicated on July 7\, 1852.  The Bradley Memorial Chapel located on cemetery grounds was completed in 1893\, a gift in memory of Silas L. Bradley. \n  \nOn the tour you will learn about the lives of several prominent citizens who are buried there.  The first man buried at Fort Hill was Judge Elijah Miller.  He was the father-in-law of William H. Seward (U.S. Secretary of State\, U.S. Senator\, NY Governor)\, who is also buried there with his wife\, daughter and granddaughter.  You can pay your respects to abolitionist and humanitarian Harriet Tubman\, to members of the Osborne\, Willard and Case families and to many others who contributed to local and American history.  A 50-foot obelisk is dedicated to the memory of Chief Logan\, renowned Cayuga sachem\, statesman orator and warrior. \n  \nTour tickets are $10 for adults\, $5 for students\, and no charge for age 6 and under.  Tickets may be purchased at the time of the tour or in advance at the Willard Chapel office\, 17 Nelson Street\, Auburn\, NY during business hours\, Wednesday through Friday from 10 AM – 4 PM.  Please call (315) 252-0339 for more information.  This tour is sponsored by the Community Preservation Committee.  Proceeds will benefit the Willard Memorial Chapel.
