SUMMARY:The Golden Goose
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, the Rev Theatre Company will tour The Golden Goose! Based on the classic Brothers’ Grimm story\, The Golden Goose follows young Hans\, an inexperienced woodcutter trying to support his family. When Hans shows kindness to an injured old man in the woods\, he is given the reward of a golden goose! Hans ventures into the kingdom in search of the old man to thank him. Along the way he meets several townspeople\, and when they try to touch the goose to take one of the beautiful golden feathers\, they become stuck and nothing they try breaks them free. Eventually\, the entire kingdom is stuck to the goose. Meanwhile\, a young\, gloomy princess sits high in her castle. The king offers a huge reward to anyone who can make the princess laugh. Hans heads to the castle to see if he can get help with his sticky situation\, and when the princess looks out her window to see what all the commotion is about\, she can’t help but burst into a fit of laughter. Hans is given a huge reward and is able to help support his family. They all learn that kindness is a virtue not to be overlooked!

DESCRIPTION:Registration is Now Open for 2021 Virtual Camp Healing Hearts                \nHospice of Central New York and Hospice of the Finger Lakes Camp Healing Hearts will be held virtually again this year during the month of August. \nEach week connects to the themes we typically have each day at our in-person Camp:  Telling Your Story\, Feelings and Coping\, Commemorating and Remembering\, and ending with Hope and Moving Onward. \nChildren entering grades one through six who have experienced the death a loved one and/or special person are eligible to attend. If you have a teenager who may be interested in participating\, please call our Grief Center at 315-634-2208 to discuss their interest. \nOur goal is to provide grieving children in our community the skills needed to promote healthy grieving and hopeful living. Our vision is to assist as many children as possible and provide them effective coping skills that will lead them into a successful adult life. \nIf you know a child or teen that would benefit from our program\, please complete a registration form TODAY. DESCRIPTION:The Cayuga County Vietnam Veterans Chapter 704 is partnering with Cayuga Community College and the Cayuga County Community College Foundation to bring a premier veterans memorial to Auburn. \nAs part of a national tour\, the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit will be displayed at Cayuga Community College’s Auburn Campus on Monday\, August 9. The exhibit is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. \nThe unique\, 1\,500-square-foot mobile museum is designed both as an informative review of the service of veterans and an appreciation of their sacrifice. \n“The goal of the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit is to bring community together and teach patriotism while remembering the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes\,” said Karen Worcester\, Executive Director for Wreaths Across America. \nThe museum features interactive exhibits\, short films and shared stories\, and unites community members\, veterans\, active-duty service members and their families in recognition of the contributions of veterans. Family-oriented activities will also be present for visitors. \nWreaths Across America representatives will be available for tours and questions\, and Vietnam veterans will be honored in a pinning ceremony at 6 p.m. Tours are free and open to the public. COVID-19 safety procedures\, including social distancing and hand sanitization\, remain in effect. \nVisitors can also order holiday wreaths for the annual Cayuga County Wreaths Across America event\, scheduled for December 18 at St. Peter and St. John’s Church on Genesee Street in Auburn. \nFor more information about the exhibit\, visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/mee.

Join Tudor Place Historic House & Garden\, home to six generations of the Peter family and located in Washington\, DC\, for a virtual presentation highlighting the history of the family\, home\, and enslaved and free people who lived and worked there from 1805 until 1983. The estate’s first owners were Martha Custis Peter and Thomas Peter. Martha Custis was born at Mount Vernon\, the granddaughter of Martha Washington and step-granddaughter of George Washington. Tudor Place has close ties to the legacy of America’s first First Family and is the only property in the District of Columbia connected to George and Martha Washington. This presentation will have a strong focus on Britannia\, the second owner of the home during the period of the Civil War. Learn about family history\, rooms in the historic house and objects in the collection. Stories come to life through this engaging and interactive conversation on Facebook live followed by a Q&A with Collections Manager\, Bryn Cooley\, and Education Coordinator\, Katie McCarthy.
