Paula is an associate professor of comparative race and ethnicity studies at the Center for the Study of Culture\, Race\, and Ethnicity at Ithaca College. DESCRIPTION:As part of the Pathway Through History weekend come and see what is in bloom—history and flowers alike— at the Seward House gardens and grounds with Facilities Manager Mitch Maniccia. Mitch will lead a newly-designed walking tour through the historic landscape\, describing the Seward’s vision of “wild nature” for their sprawling acres\, and the changes made to the house and outbuildings during the 19th century. Learn about the historic landscape that influenced and was shaped by the family throughout the turbulent 19th century\, and how each generation left their imprint on the grounds and house alike. \nThe tour will run rain or shine and will proceed regardless of temperature\, so participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and prepare appropriately in anticipation of 60 minutes of walking throughout the gardens. DESCRIPTION:Though a difficult decision\, due to the continuing COVID-19 health crisis\, we have decided to hold the 16th Annual Run/Walk for Hospice scheduled for Saturday\, July 3rd\, in Fair Haven\, NY as a Virtual Walk/Run again this year. But…that means we can run (together for Hospice) from anywhere! \nThe Fair Haven 15th Annual Run for Hospice event was truly a great success\, even in virtual form. Thanks to all of you\, over $5\,700 was raised for Hospice! Let’s raise the bar this year and hit $10\,000 raised! \nRace entrants are being asked to run that same distance on their own while following social distancing recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Run\, walk or push a stroller all in support of Hospice patients and families. \nRegistration is $20. Sign up by June 6th to guarantee a race t-shirt that you will be able to pick up at several pick-up locations to be announced.  \nAll proceeds will benefit the patients and families we serve. \nWe will see you at YOUR starting line!

DESCRIPTION:The night of April 14th\, 1865 is engrained in historic memory. From the coordinated attack that led to President Lincoln being shot and John Wilkes Booth making his way across the stage of Ford’s Theatre as he escaped DC\, the vicious knife attack on Secretary of State William H. Seward\, leaving him wounded along with four other victims\, to the debated involvement of figures such as Mary Surratt and Dr. Samuel Mudd\, the conspiracy targeting important officials of the United States Federal Government remains a point of intrigue for historical researchers and museum visitors alike. But what of the aftermath?  \nJoin representatives from  Ford’s Theatre\, Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site\, the Dr. Mudd Museum\, the Seward House Museum and the Surratt House Museum for a virtual panel as they discuss the subsequent capture\, trial by war tribunal\, and execution of four of the accused. The discussion will take place across multiple streaming platforms\, including each of the representatives’ Facebook Pages.
