Mark your calendars; this summer is packed with lots of opportunities to enjoy free outdoor fun & live entertainment in downtown Auburn!

Music on the Mall
Monthly Fridays June 21 – September 6 from 7 – 10PM

BID and the City are again partnering to sponsor Music on the Mall featuring live outdoor music performances in the State Street band shell from 7 – 10PM, once a month on Fridays June – September. The rain location for Music on the Mall is on the purple stage inside Moondog’s Lounge.

Assistant BID Director Jesse Kline shared, “In choosing the musical acts for the series, we try to cover all bases- showcase the local hometown talent, and also expose Auburnians to new acts they may not see otherwise, that represent different genres of music. We also want to attract music fans from the region to come & experience what downtown Auburn has to offer.” The open container law will be waived during the shows, so people can bring beers outside in cups and enjoy.

This year’s performers in order of appearance are:

June 21: City – Los Blancos
July 12: BID – Fritz’s Polka Band
August 9: City – Ener-G R&B Showband
September 6: BID – Mere Mortals

Los Blancos rips through Blues, Soul, Rockin’ Zydeco, Latin, Outlaw Country, Heavy-One Funk, Folk, and a bottomless bag of tricks that’s always sure to get the party started. Over more than a decade they’ve rocked thousands of shows, and tens of thousands of miles, reveling in a genuine passion for what they do. They are a crew of troubadour craftsmen and kindred souls who have joined forces for the long haul, and for the love of music.

Members are Colin Aberdeen on guitar & vocals; Steven T. Winston on bass & vocals; and Mark Tiffault on drums & percussions.

Fritz’s Polka Band (FPB) was formed in 1978 by lead accordionist, the late Fred Scherz Sr., and his eight-year old son, Fritz, for whom the band was named. Playing everything from modern-style polka to country to rock and even blues, FPB performs an eclectic mix of musical styles! In fact, FPB is known for breaking the “polka” stereotype. FPB is the first polka band to perform at a Woodstock Festival ’99. On October 7, 2010, FPB was inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame.
FPB was sponsored by Jagermeister for over 12 years and is now sponsored by Coldcock Whiskey.

Members are Fritz Scherz piano accordion, button-box accordion, vocals; Gabe Vaccaro bass guitar, guitar, vocals; Frank Nelson guitar, bass guitar, vocals and Mike Faraino drums, vocals.

ENER-G R&B Showband is a high energy old school R&B band from Syracuse that specialize in weddings, corporate events, galas, private parties and special events. Band members include James Patterson lead vocals; Jerry Patterson lead & background vocals; Deion Patterson on keys; Travis Reed on keys; Amir Gethers on bass; Brazzie Addison on drums; and Dr. Derek Seward on sax.

ENER-G is newly formed but not new to the music world. The Patterson’s have been performing since they were teenagers as part of various Syracuse bands, and in the national arena traveling in the same circles with Marvin Gaye, Tavares, Earth Wind & Fire, Gloria Gaynor and others. They brought their dream to fruition by coming together as family again, with a few added seasoned musicians to bring a rare, unique and exciting show to their audience.

Mere Mortals band members reside in Skaneateles; they are a classic rock party band performing dance hits from the Rolling Stones to the Beatles. Members are Dan Finn on vocals & drums, Dave Allyn on guitar & vocals, Kristin Peenstra on vocals, trumpet, keyboards & percussion, Maureen Henesey on vocals & percussion, Al Cutri on saxophone, keyboards & percussion, Mark Kearns on bass, Jonny Bristol on guitar, and Win Price on keyboards & vocals.
