Auburn…. Looking for ideas to keep your hands and hearts busy at home during this continued time of social distancing? Pick up a hammer and join Cayuga County Habitat for Humanity (CCHH)’s Build a Birdhouse online campaign! Why would CCHH build birdhouses? It’s a natural fit! Habitat for Humanity’s mission has always been to ensure decent and affordable homes for all. Birds also struggle to find safe places to raise their families. This project is a fun, family-friendly way to give twice. When you build a house for a bird, you help build a home for a family! Sign up by visiting CCHH’s Birdhouse Campaign webpage at cayugahabitat.org/birdhouse. There, you may choose your level of participation, along with making a donation to help us with our next house project.
When you choose the Free Bird Level, we will send you birdhouse plans, along with a CCHH decal to thank you for your donation of $15. You shop for your own materials, and construct your birdhouse from start to finish.
When you choose the Migrator Level for a $30 donation, you receive a complete birdhouse kit with plans, pre-cut wood and all required hardware, and a CCHH decal.
High Flyer Sponsors order finished birdhouses that will be built by our Habitat volunteers in their own woodshops. An engraved plate with your name will go on your birdhouse. Individuals may sponsor a birdhouse for $50, Businesses and Corporations for $100.
Contact our Board Chair, and Build a Birdhouse Campaign coordinator, Kip Coerper at kip.coerper@cayugahabitat.org with any questions, and to arrange pickup or delivery of your kit (Migrator Level) or completed birdhouse (High Flyer Level.) If you don’t have a place for your completed birdhouse, we will deliver it to either the Cayuga County Parks or the Auburn Enlarged School District, both of which have agreed to install some of the birdhouses on their grounds. At any level of participation, your generosity goes toward our end goal of safe and affordable homes for people in our local community! As the holiday season approaches, remember: birdhouses make great gifts!
